In the past day, I went from looking like a dirty-hippie-dope-dealer to looking like a seventeen-year-old-itching-to-join-the-marines. I think this may have been a mistake.

At least I wont have people stopping me on the street anymore asking if I'm in town for 'hemp fest', or if they can get a dime off me.

Also- check out that sun. Whoo hoootie hooo, take that Seattle winter!

Yes they are real, and they taste just like you would imagine.

Car got a flat? Really want to get home and not in the mood to mess around with the car jack?

Forklifts are neat.

Back in the day

Interesting story behind this picture. I can't remember if I've told it on here before, so here we go.

The picture was shot and then developed with a few other rolls of film at UW Madison's student access darkroom. I didn't really understand the process of developing film as well as I do now, and couldn't figure out why the negatives were opaque and impossible to print. There was a hint of the image on them, but they just weren't transparent.

After working in a darkroom for a year or so I remembered that I had never thrown my negatives away, and dug them out. The fixer solution in Madison had been bad, so I just dumped the negatives into a jug, poured in fixer, and stirred them with a spoon. The fixer gets rid of all the silver on the negative that hasn't been turned black by the developer, allowing light to shine through those areas. This also gave me an anecdote to relate to students when they were really worried about getting their film into the fix quick. Extreme haste is not necessary.

Aren't baby Ben and Neil cute?

Spring!

Grass is mowed, flowers and trees are blooming, its still light at 7pm, rainbows...

One thing that hasn't changed is that people still look scared and nervous when I greet them in passing. Just a bad neighborhood for being friendly I guess. Maybe if I bought a pair of slacks and wore an untucked, light pinstripe button-up I'd be in better shape. Shave and a haircut wouldn't hurt either...

I don't think I've put this video up here before, and if you haven't seen it before it is very much worth watching.

R.I.P. Breezy

This was from a bus stop I was at. Yes, those are little penguin chicks with penguin cheerleaders, cheering for penguin footballers. Only one seems to have noticed the fire-breathing dragon. The banner reads 'The mind is the imagination's playground'.
